Sorry for the long gap. Lots of maintenance trips to Bend to get the Evade worked on, but it still keeps breaking. I’ve also switched to this new blog software which should make it easier to post, and possibly even add support for forums soon.
My airplane just completed its 3rd annual a couple of weeks ago. Overall, its in very good shape. I was especially happy to hear a totally clean bill of health for the engine. Given all the controversy about lean of peak operation, its nice to see the compressions are great, there is no evidence of scorching or carbon deposits anywhere or anything. Good consistent engine operation, not letting it get too hot ever, and so far the results are great.

The word is that there is a training scheduled on May 1st for the Columbia mechanics that want to do the de-ice installs. So
presumably the installs themselves start mid-may. Also I heard that there are something like 70 new Columbia’s sitting on the
ramp in Bend waiting to be delivered. This is the backlog because the factory started making only Garmin G1000 equipped models
but the FAA is holding up the certification of those changes.

Sorry again about being a total slacker keeping this up to date. I guess I just got busy over the holidays
and I’ve been doing a few software upgrades in how I publish this thing and I guess I let that lead to some procrastination.
Anyway the big news this week is that it appears that Northcoast just got the de-ice system certified by the FAA
which is huge news for those of us in the northwest. No idea when installs can begin, but I’m hoping I’ll be able to
take advantage of a trip out of the country in April to get mine done. Stay tuned…
